SPRING
Spring is a very comfortable and beautiful season in the Chicago area. The breeze is flowing day and night. Temperatures range during the day from the mid 60's to upper 70's and from the low 50's to the mid 60's at night. We get a ton of rain in the spring and we have beautiful gardens to show for it all. I loved sleeping in Oak Park during spring as a kid. The heat would be off and the windows wide open. Also, have your gutters cleaned after the buds, seeds, and flowers fall.
SUMMER
Summer in the Oak Park / River Forest area can get mighty hot and muggy. It is not uncommon for us to reach mid to upper 90's in late August and early September with humidity levels reaching the same percentages if not higher. Air conditioning in a home is not mandatory but it helps and is certainly a wise investment in your home.
FALL
Fall is the season that never seems to last long enough. If you are not familiar with the Oak Park/River Forest/Elmwood Park area or, have never been here, then I must tell you now we have some of the most beautiful towering trees in the Chicago land area. And when fall hits it is an awesome display of color. Temperatures will start to dip into the low 40's at night during fall and remain in the mid to low 50's during the day. We get a good amount of precipitation and you will surely need to have your gutters cleaned after the leaves drop.
WINTER
I won't lie to ya - winter can be down right nasty. It usually really hits you after Christmas in the dark, cold days of January and February. We can see sub-zero temps anytime of the day and snow accumulations of a 4-8 inches are not uncommon. There have been quite a few past years of some memorable 3 foot storms. A shovel is a must to keep the walk clear for school kids, commuters walking to the train and your friendly mail carrier. If you have a long driveway instead of an alley then you'll need a snow blower and we have quite a few snow removal companies for hire.
