When our search began, we knew many of the qualities we were looking for in a community, but because of the vast size of the metro area, and our lack of exposure to many of it, we didn't pick just 1 community. We were looking in northern, northwestern, and western suburbs. In each of these areas I sought out agents who knew their market well and were seasoned in their business. It ended up that the only offer we made was in Oak Park, with you. As I explained in one of our early meetings, our first attempted home purchase didn't go well. I did learn that there's real competition for desirable properties in our price range, and an agent with a keen sense of that market would be integral in the "offer" portion of the deal.
Your advice was most helpful in our offer. Not only did you know how to expedite the offer process, but also you had invaluable info about the nature and costs of the repairs to bring the house to structural and functional shape. I was like most other homebuyers who hadn't rehabbed an old house, so I didn't know what to look for in viewing the homes on the market. Boy, am I learning now!
This brings me to another area where your expertise and commitment to a high level of service really showed. You supplied me with an excellent list of tradesman to bid on the rehab of our recent purchase. Each of them was professional and respectful of preserving the craftsmanship of a hundred year old home. They delivered quality service, in a timely manner. I had heard too many stories of friends' rehabbing woes, from contractors disappearing midway through a job, to neglect and shoddy work. Because of your referrals, my experience was very positive. We had a couple surprise repairs, but all of the affected contractors were able to accommodate the schedule and task changes, still completing the project in a reasonable timeframe.
I had purchased 2 other properties prior to working with you, but they were nowhere near as successful or guided as well as with you. I look forward to referring you to other clients looking in the Oak Park/ River Forest communities.
